GENERAL SKILLED MIGRATION (GSM) PROGRAM
Skilled migration is usually based on points system. It is generally for skilled workers and professionals who want to live and work in Australia.
General Criteria at the time of invitation:
Age: be under 45 years old
Have a minimum score of 65 points on the expression of interest (EOI) lodged with the Skillselect system.
Be invited to apply through the Skillselect system
At the time of invitation, have a minimum level of Competent English
Have a positive skills assessment for your nominated occupation.
There are 4 different skilled visa categories:
Subclass 189: Skilled Independent
For skilled workers/professionals who are invited by the government to apply for a permanent residence visa in Australia. Read more…..

Subclass 491: Skilled Work Regional
A 5-year temporary visa for skilled migrants who will live and work in a designated regional postcode in Australia. This is a provisional pathway to permanent residence.

Subclass 191: Skilled Work Regional
This is a permanent residence visa for visa holders of subclass 491 and subclass 494, who hold a provisional right to apply after having lived and worked for a minimum of 3 years in a designated regional postcode.

The minimum score required is: 65 points
This is for all GSM skilled visas
: Subclass 189, 190, 491 visas.
However, there are quotas for certain occupations,
so if there are many applicants on the same occupation type as yours, it means a stiffer competition and
your score would likely need to be higher than minimum of 65 points to be selected by Skillselect or the sponsoring state/territory.
