A doctorate by research or a PhD is the highest level of study offered in Australia - usually a 3-year course program. A PhD requires submission of a thesis that is assessed by examiners who determine whether the research is worthy of the qualification.
Pre-requisite: Minimum of an undergraduate degree with a minimum of Second Class Honours (Division A) – also known as ‘upper second-class’ honours – to apply for your PhD to demonstrate you have significant research experience.

FINANCIAL EVIDENCE GUIDELINES
The Australian Government specifies AU$21,041 as the minimum amount required to cover living costs for a 12-month period, however the Gold Coast and Brisbane are significantly less expensive than the bigger cities. This amount should cover living expenses such as food, accommodation, transport, health insurance, clothing, fuel, power, telephone, and entertainment.
