Only subclass 482 visa holders under the following categories are exempted from the maximum age of 45 to be able to progress to PR:

1) Senior Academics, Researchers, Scientists &
Technical Specialists:
Individuals employed by an Australian government
scientific agency or university for a role at ANZSCO
skill level 1 or 2 (highly skilled) are age-exempt for
PR application

2) Current SC482 visa holders (including those
holding subclass 475 and TSS subclass 482 visas)
and earning a high salary of minimum :
AUD$175,000 per annum

3) Regional Medical Practitioners: for doctors who
have worked in regional areas for at least 2 years as
subclass 457 or 482 visa holders within the 3 years
before application of SC186 with a nominated
position which is also in a designated regional area

4) Legacy 457 workers (and those who hold 482
visas after holding 457 visas):
only applicable to those who held this visa on or
after 18 Apr 2017

5) Subclass 444 or 461 workers:
• For NZ citizens and their spouses who were :
working in Australia for at least 2 years ; AND
• is under age 50 on the day of application for
subclass 186 visa.
